Today, we will pick you up from your hotel or riad in Errachidia and take you to the far southeast of Morocco. You can take amazing photos of the beautiful Ziz Valley with its golden sands. In an hour, you will be taking pictures of a town known for its dates and fossils.
Take a break for your morning coffee to keep the fun going. Instead of just driving straight ahead, visit Erfoud’s Fossil Workshop and the fresh weekly market that happens every Saturday. Continue going straight, then turn around to head to Rissani. Make sure to visit the real market, especially on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.
Let’s go have lunch at Madfona, a local pizza place. Please ask your driver or our guide where to try it. After lunch, you can go to Moulay Ali Sherif’s tombs and then head to the Erg Chebbi dunes. You will go on a camel ride to see the sunset over the sand dunes and stay in a comfortable tent at a desert camp located by the dunes. Dinner and stay overnight.
Wake up early to ensure that you show up at the dunes before the sun rises; subsequently, consume your meal in a tent. We will depart the camp (or hotel) at a later time and proceed to the villages of Khamlia, Merzouga, and Hassi Labied to drive.
While you are still at the desert’s border, there is a tiny oasis that offers a clear view of the canals that are utilized for irrigation. Additionally, visit Merzouga village to purchase Tuareg mementos, such as jewelry or clothing.
Continue to Khamlia, the home of the black community in Morocco, to experience their music, known as Gnawa music. Lastly, we will transport you back to your lodging via automobile.
After breakfast, the driver will take you to Rissani, where you can visit the local market, especially open on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Sunday. Start by visiting the Souk, then head to the graves of Moulay Ali Sherif.
For lunch, you can order Madfona pizza from a nearby restaurant. Just ask the guide or driver for details. On our way back, we will go through Erfoud before taking you to Errachidia airport so you can catch your trip.
