Today, we will pick you up from your hotel or riad in Errachidia and take you to the far southeast of Morocco. You can take amazing photos of the beautiful Ziz Valley with its golden sands. In an hour, you will be taking pictures of a town known for its dates and fossils.
Take a break for your morning coffee to keep the fun going. Instead of just driving straight ahead, visit Erfoud’s Fossil Workshop and the fresh weekly market that happens every Saturday. Continue going straight, then turn around to head to Rissani. Make sure to visit the real market, especially on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.
Let’s go have lunch at Madfona, a local pizza place. Please ask your driver or our guide where to try it. After lunch, you can go to Moulay Ali Sherif’s tombs and then head to the Erg Chebbi dunes. You will go on a camel ride to see the sunset over the sand dunes and stay in a comfortable tent at a desert camp located by the dunes. Dinner and stay overnight.
Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes, then enjoy breakfast in the tent. Leave for the small towns of Hassiliebied, Merzouga, and Khamlia in the afternoon. First, visit the canal irrigation in the small meadow by the sand dunes.
Then, head to Merzouga town to buy Tuareg clothes and a hat. Next, you will go to Khamlia village to enjoy the lovely sounds of Gnawa music. Drive back to Errachidia and stop for lunch on the way. We’ll give you information about your hotel.
